Start off your holiday season with the Concert for Kids 2018, this year with three options for your enjoyment.
The annual Concert for Kids to benefit the WBAL Radio Kids Campaign is a holiday concert which supports our community by raising funds and awareness for the WBAL Radio Kids Campaign. Since it premiered in 2007 as an opportunity for the twenty-plus student orchestra to give back to the community, the Concert for Kids has raised over $80,000 for the WBAL Radio Kids Campaign. No longer a "little event", the Concert for Kids has grown into a concert featuring professional singers, choirs, dancers, and students from many Howard County high schools.
The Family Matinee is a slightly abbreviated version of our Evening Pops performance. Only $12 for Adults and $8.00 for children 12 and under, the Family Matinee is full of the music, dancing and stories that are traditional highlights of the Evening Pops concert. The Family Matinee also features a special story read by Jolly Old Saint himself. As a special bonus, children twelve and under will receive a holiday craft to take home.
The Evening Pops is where the Concert for Kids began. The Evening Pops is a holiday extravaganza featuring choir, orchestra, dance and our special guest artists and WBAL Radio personalities. Appropriate for all ages, this concert will set your toes tapping and hearts jingling as you begin your Christmas season.
The Classical Concert for Kids is a new addition to our series. Featuring music by Eric Whitacre, John Rutter, Vaughan Williams and Leroy Anderson, this program is chock full of the traditional music we all enjoy at this time of year. This year's Classical Concert will be held at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center off Cradlerock Way in Columbia. To purchase tickets for the Classical Concert click here.
Finally, we will also continue the "Pay-It-Forward" program for each of the concerts. By purchasing a "Pay-It-Forward" ticket you are giving us the opportunity to help a family in need enjoy the concert. "Pay-It-Forward" tickets are available for both the Family Matinee and Evening performances. Please consider helping our families in need experience the joy of the holiday season by purchasing a "Pay-It-Forward" ticket.
The Holiday Boutique continues to offer more ways for you to support the Concert for Kids. Opened as part of the 2013 Concert for Kids, the Holiday Boutique features hand-made crafts and decorations donated by local artisans, volunteers, and students. Ornaments, holiday centerpieces, hand-knitted afghans, and more offer an opportunity for you to deck your halls with holiday spirit. The 2018 Holiday Boutique will be open from 11:00am to 3:00pm and 5:30pm to a half an hour after the evening performance ends..
Come kick off your holiday season with Concert for Kids!
